{"id":968,"date":"2022-10-10T08:50:24","date_gmt":"2022-10-10T08:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shalomeo.com\/blog\/?p=968"},"modified":"2022-10-10T08:50:24","modified_gmt":"2022-10-10T08:50:24","slug":"plastic-scintillators-via-rapid-photoinitiated-cationic-polymerization-of-vinyltoluene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shalomeo.com\/blog\/plastic-scintillators-via-rapid-photoinitiated-cationic-polymerization-of-vinyltoluene\/968.html","title":{"rendered":"Plastic Scintillators via Rapid Photoinitiated Cationic Polymerization of Vinyltoluene"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cationic photopolymerization is applied for the rapid curing of a vinyltoluene and fluorophore solution into an efficient <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shalomeo.com\/Scintillators\/Plastic-Scintillators\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plastic scintillator<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A hard solid is obtained via UV light-initiated polymerization of vinyltoluene, diaryliodonium salt, 9,9-dimethyl-2-phenylfluorene (PhF), and 9,9-dimethyl-2,7-distyrlfluorene (SFS) at ambient conditions with high conversion rates under a range of cationic photoinitiator concentrations, fluorophore concentrations, and light intensities.
