A 2.4X thermal imaging mechanically compensated dual field of view zoom system for 3-5μm dual fov MWIR lenses with cooled FPA detector with blur removal mechanism is designed. Use of Diffractive Optical Elements (DOE’s) and Aspherics balances chromatic and monochromatic aberrations.
In this work reimaging optics has been used to achieve 100% cold shield efficiency. Two folding mirror assembly is included inside the design to resolve image blurring induced by platform motions.
The challenges associated with this additional mirror assembly and performance optimization are discussed in detail. The final optical layout with performance analysis and dual fov MWIR lenses movement are discussed.
