A harmonic separator, also known as a harmonic beamsplitter, is an optical mirror used to separate the laser harmonic wavelengths from the fundamental or other harmonics of the laser sources. Harmonic separators are essential in lasers where multiple laser wavelengths exist (the fundamentak wavelengths and nonlinear frequency converted wavelengths), such as in (second harmonic generation) SHG or (third harmonic generation) 3HG setups. It can be regarded as a dichroic mirror, reflecting specific wavelengths while transmitting some other wavelengths. Shalom EO’s ultrafast harmonic separators are designed for femtoline lasers with GDD<<20fs2, which ensures low pulse dispersion. The off-the-shelf ultrafast harmonic separators are designed to be used at 0° or 45° AOIs.
The optical coatings have high reflectance to the wanted harmonic generated wavelength while also being transparent to the fundamentals. The front surface of Shalom EO's harmonic beamsplitters is coated with dichroic beamsplitter coating that reflect a certain wavelength (R>99.9%) while transmit different wavelengths (Tavg>99%), while the second surface is coated with anti-reflection (AR) coating to supress undesirable ghost images and enhance the transmission to R<1% for the transmission wavelength at the interface of back surface to air. Our harmonic separator is parallel plano-plano plates with no wedge.
Both Off-the-shelf and custom Ti:Sapphire/Ytterbium femtoline laser harmonic separator/beamsplitter are accessible in Shalom EO.
Various wavelength configurations are avaible, suitable for Ti: Sapphire and Yb doped lasers, standard wavelength configurations include:
1.HR@400nm, HT@800nm
2.HR@800nm, HT@1100-2600nm
3.HR@1030nm HT@515nm
4. More...
Important concerns for applications you should note:
1. Wavelength and coating match
2. Angle of incidence, Shalom EO’s femtosecond harmonic separators are designed for a specific AOI (45°or 0°). Deviation from the specified angle changes the optical path and reflectance/transmittance behavior.
3. Laser damage threshold
