Cesium Lithium Borate (CLBO), with the chemical formula CsLiB6O10, is a nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal renowned for its exceptional performance in ultraviolet (UV) and deep-UV laser applications. CLBO has a wide optical transmission wavelength range from 180~2800nm, making them suitable for UV applications, producing UV and deep-UV all-solid-state lasers. The effective nonlinear coefficient of CLBO (d_eff) is approximately 0.84–0.87 pm/V for wavelengths of 266 nm and 213 nm, respectively. CLBO supports phase-matching for second through fifth harmonic generation (SHG to FHG) of Nd:YAG lasers (1064 nm), facilitating efficient conversion of frequencies. CLBO also features wide angular and temperature bandwidths. CLBO is highly hygroscopic, meaning it readily absorbs moisture from the air. To prevent degradation, CLBO crystals are typically supplied sealed in protective housings with anti-reflection-coated UV-grade fused silica windows.
