Polarization beam combining, which pertains to a broader class of coherent beam combining, is a common approach for combining laser light sources without mutual coherence. In a Polarization Beam Combiner, a half-waveplate or sometimes a dual-wavelength waveplate, and a polarization beam splitters (PBS) are assembled. The general working principle is utilizing orthogonal polarization between two laser lights where there is destructive interference, obtaining one output light with higher power, multiplied brightness, and preserved beam quality. Polarization beam combiner does not require certain beam profiles and is recommendable for applications with narrow emission bandwidths and a relatively small number of emitters.
Hangzhou Shalom EO offers Beam Combiners for output power scaling of fiber lasers and various lasers. Our beam combiners are consists of an N-BK7/Fused Silica Polarization Beam Splitter Cube and a Quartz/MgF2 Waveplate optically contacted or cemented to the PBS. Our polarization beam combiners feature a high damage threshold compatible with high power applications, tight tolerance control, and excellent transmission that guarantees optimized working efficiencies for your laser system.
