Plastic Scintillators
Radiation contaminations are residual of radiactive materials remaining on the surfaces of substances, and these radionuclides emit alpha-particles, beta particles or gamma radiations, therefore, we can detect and measure the amounts surface radiation contamination present using materials that are sensitive to alpha/beta/gamma radiations. Plastic scintillator is a great detection material for detection of alpha and beta radiation sources in applications like medical dosimetry. However, the light signal generated by plastic scintillators can be weak, making it difficult to distinguish from background noise. Prolonged radiation exposure can cause degradation of plastic scintillators.
Shalom EO supplies surface contamination plastic scintillation detector series radiation detectors are designed to detect and measure alpha and/or beta radiation via converting radioactive emissions into electrical pulse signals.
