Sodium doped Cesium Iodide or CsI(Na) has a wavelength of emission peak at 420nm, which makes it well matched to the photo-cathode sensitivity of bialkali photo multiplier (PMT), CsI(Na) scintilaltion crystals also has a high light output yielding up to 85% of NaI(Tl). Compared to NaI(Tl), it is a relatively soft and plastic material without cleavage plane, which makes the CsI(Na) scintillator materials suitable for harsh environmental applications, like well-logging, space research ect..
