Triple-mode tin-loaded organic scintillators offer the same characteristics as dual-mode plastic scintillators, but with the added benefit of providing gamma-ray spectroscopy.
They are the first low-cost, practical neutron and gamma scintillation detector for use as a replacement for both medium resolution gamma-ray detectors and Helium-3/Helium-4 proportional counter tubes for (thermal/fast) neutron detection.
