Scintillators
A scintillation detector in essence consists of scintillator crystals or other scintillator materials coupled to light sensors and photodetectors like photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) or Si photodiodes, SiPM, etc. In the case of scintillator detectors using PMT, the scintillation crystals are excited to luminescence when irradiated by photons or particles, and the photoelectron generated is multiplied by the dynodes and converted to electric pulses at the output anodes by photomultiplier tubes. Besides the scintillators and PMT, other scintillation detector accessories that can be integrated into scintillation detectors also include a Voltage Divider (VD), Preamplifier, High Voltage Module (HV), connector electronics, or light guides. Scintillation detectors are often used to detect X-rays and γ-ray, they are widely used in medical imaging, high-energy physics, and geophysical exploration, nuclear power plants.
