Laser Crystals and Components
A Nonlinear Crystal or an NLO Crystal is an optical crystal that exhibits a strong nonlinear dielectric response function to optical radiation. Nonlinear crystals are important components in the fields of photonics and lasers. One of the major applications of NLO crystals is Nonlinear Optical Conversion of Frequencies, where laser wavelengths that are inaccessible (e.g. 2-7 micro wavelengths) without deliberate interventions are generated by altering the frequencies (hence the wavelength) of the output light. And some of them could also be utilized as EO/AO Modulation crystals.
